The poet of “PHRA APHAIMANEE”, Sunthorn Phu was born in the region of king Rama I on june 26, 1786 and died 1855. He left behind a legacy of poems that have become famous over timer because they describe Thai history.
He was honored by UNESCO as a Great World Poet in 1986, the 200th anniversary of his birth.
His epic most famous poem “Phra Aphaimanee” was written and published in installments over twenty years. It records his association between memories and sites he visited. “Phra Aphaimanee” is a story about the life journey of Prince Aphaimanee, his adventures throughout the ancient Thailand and romance set in the scene of the island “Koh Samet” in the Rayong Province.
