Hole 2 / The Crescent of Stonehenge
Located at Salisbury, Wiltshire U.K.
Built 3000 – 1100 BC
STONEHENGE was built in three phases over three millennia. In 3000 BC the first bluestones weighing up to four tons each, were transported from as far as 400 Km from the western coast of Wales. The pillars were arranged in a double-crescent shape. The second phase, another circle, was erected 1000 years later. The final phase of construction began in about 1100 BC.Today one can only imagine that this mysterious Neolithic circular has served some astronomical purpose.
The achievement of this great effort however, remains a Wonder.
